Explore and Draw: Making drawing tools from natural materials

In this session of Explore & Draw, we hunted outside in the park for sticks, leaves, feathers, etc, and then the children make these into drawing tools.

We supplied bits of string and raffia to tie things together.

Each individual tool made different marks on the paper when dipped into ink.

This gave the children a new way to make marks…

There is less control than holding a pencil, and its fun and satisfying to make your own drawing tools.
