Explore and Draw: Printing

In this session, we playfully introduced the concept of printing by playing with a household roller and a little truck on wheels.

These things can roll through ink and then make marks on paper.

We invented games using these new toys. With huge sheets of paper on the floor, the children rolled the truck back and forth to each other, creating drawings as they did so. This broke the ice and dissolved the fear of art making.

We then moved on to more traditional methods of monoprinting, using rollers and printing inks, with the trees as our subject matter.
